The Holy Spirit. Who is he? Although there is much disagreement in the Body of Christ regarding what the Holy Spirit does, no one disagrees that there is a Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit was present at the time of Creation. “And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.” Gen 1:2

The next time the Holy Spirit is mentioned is in Psalm 51.  David cries out to God,” Take not thy Holy Spirit from me.” AKJV

From this we learn that both Jews and later Gentiles believe in the existence of the Holy Spirit.

Another example from the Old Testament is Isaiah 63:10: “Where is he that put his Holy Spirit within him?”  This refers to Moses.

In the New Testament, we see Jesus “being full of the Holy Ghost (Spirit) returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness” Luke 4:1 AKJV

And again, in John 1, we see the “Spirit descending, and remaining on him (Jesus), the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.  And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.” John 1:33 AKJV

This is John the Baptist speaking as an eye witness.

So for the purpose of today’s blog, we are establishing that the Holy Spirit exists according to the scriptures. In fact, He is important in establishing the deity of Jesus.

As a Christian parent, this is an essential fact that you will want to pass on to your children.
