Homeschooling

If the year 2020 AD didn’t throw us enough curveballs, “school” now morphed into a stay-at-home, online experience.

Over 1.2 billion children were no longer in the classrooms of America as of April 2020. That means parents and caregivers were thrust into new job descriptions: that of “teacher/supervisor”.

Faced with this sudden change, and the wealth of information out there, The publishing company I signed with, Winged Publications, produced a handbook to help those struggling.

Enter the expertise of Homeschooling Parents. These parents had already chosen to withdraw their children from public and private schools and teach them themselves. They had a lot to teach the newcomers to the “party”.

I was fortunate to be accepted as a contributor.

I thought it would be an easy task, to give my opinion as a classroom teacher. about how to teach children at home.
I never tried my hand at homeschooling, except during summer breaks (ouch), but I knew with ten plus years of experience I would have a lot to say.

Unfortunately, as a fiction writer, I found I was nervous about presenting factual information andHomeschooling book material to prospective readers. I researched what I thought I knew, to make sure the theories were still being used, and the science was solid.

I knew the publisher had a time frame she wanted to meet, so I wrote fast and furiously. It was the very first writing assignment I’d done that was going to be in print professionally!!

I submitted my article and waited and waited. After about a month, I checked Amazon books. There it was! On Amazon for a free download or $.99 paperback.

So here’s the cover. I enjoyed the other articles in there, especially since two of my grandchildren are now being totally homeschooled.
